A song we wrote at work
At lunchtime of course.
It's a tribute to the crazy weather of late.
You'd never keep a brolly up in that
As I was sitting at my desk one day
I looked out the window
It’s a dirty old day for the month of May
The trees are blowin'
The wind is a howlin'
It’s lashing out of the heavens
Oh you wouldn’t put a brolly up in that
Oh you’d never keep a brolly up in that
No you’d never keep a brolly up in that
I put on me coat, waved bye bye
Went out the door,
And took a look at the sky
Oh you wouldn’t put a brolly up in that
Oh you’d never keep a brolly up in that
No you’d never keep a brolly up in that
Sure I was walking only walking
Down the street to the beat
Of my lonely auld heart
But sure I couldn’t start a crying
No a couldn’t start a crying
As I couldn’t get my brolly up in that
Oh you wouldn’t put a brolly up in that
Oh you’d never keep a brolly up in that
No you’d never keep a brolly up in that
I saw a wee girl tripping down the street
She landed on her arse and she landed on her feet
I saw her brolly flying off in the rain
And I just couldn’t help myself from sayin’
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sure you’d never keep a brolly up in that
Oh you wouldn’t put a brolly up in that
Oh you’d never keep a brolly up in that
No you’d never keep a brolly up in that
YOU’D NEVER KEEP A BROLLY UP IN THAT!!

Awesome blog, Katherine. Happened upon it when I googled your pal Mairead after reading of last weekend's horrific attack (I live in Maryland, very near her). I recognise another of your pals from your photos. I worked with the "famous author" in Star Sunday and we were in same King's Inns class (for a short time, I couldn't hack it!) Hope Mairead returns to full health and vitality ASAP, and keep up the brilliant bloggage, you're bookmarked!
Thanks Ken, I must mention you to our famous author friend!
